How to replace the Display Assembly on a Dell Pro 14 Essential PV14250

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Display Assembly and a PV14250 Dell Pro 14 Essential. The procedure will also include removing the Base Cover, Battery Cable, WLAN and reinstalling them.

Removal

Base Cover

1. Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
2. Loosen the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest.
3. Remove the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest.
4. Pry the base cover near the top left corner of the hinge. Pry from recess points near the hinges.
5. Loosen the base cover by working on the left, right and, bottom sides to open the base cover.
6. Lift the base cover off the system.

Battery Cable

1. Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
2. Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
3. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.

Wireless Module (WLAN)

1. Identify the wireless module (WLAN) highlighted in blue.
2. Remove the screw that secures the bracket to the system board.
3. Remove the bracket off the wireless module.
4. Disconnect the antenna cables (black and white cables) from the wireless module.
5. Slide and remove the WLAN card from the system board.

Display Assembly

1. Identify the display assembly highlighted in blue.
2. Remove the screws that secure the left and right display hinges to the system.
3. Open the display hinges at an angle of 90 degrees.
4. Peel the tape that secures the display cable connector latch to the system board.
5. Lift the latch and disconnect the display cable from the system board.
6. Unroute the wireless antenna cables from the routing guides on the system.
7. Lift the palm rest assembly at an angle to free it from the hinges and remove it from the display assembly.

Install

Display Assembly

1. Place the display assembly on a clean and flat surface
2. Identify the display assembly location highlighted in blue.
3. Slide and place the palm rest assembly at an angle on the display assembly.
4. Close the display hinges and align with the screw holes.
5. Install the screws that secure the left and right display hinges to the system.
6. Connect the display cable to the system board. Close the latch to secure.
7. Adhere the tape that secures the display cable connector latch to the system board.
8. Route the wireless antenna cables through the routing guides on the system.

Wireless Module (WLAN)

1. Identify the wireless module (WLAN) location highlighted in blue.
2. Slide and insert the WLAN card into the slot on the system board.
3. Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
4. Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
5. Install the bracket on the wireless module.
6. Install the screw that secure the bracket to the system board.

Battery Cable

1. Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
2. Connect the battery cable to the system board.

Base Cover

1. Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the base cover and press the edges of the cover until it clicks into place.
3. Tighten the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest.
4. Install the screws that secure the base cover to the plam rest.
