How to replace the Processor on a Dell Pro 24 All-in-One Plus QB24250

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Processor and a Dell Pro 24 All-in-One Plus QB24250. The procedure will also include removing the Stand, Back Cover, System Board Shield, Heat Sink and reinstalling them.

Removal

1. Stand
   • Identify the stand highlighted in blue.
   • Press and hold down on the tab that secures the stand to the display assembly base.
   • Slide and lift the stand off the display assembly base.
2. Back Cover
   • Identify the back cover highlighted in blue.
   • Press down on the tab and slide the back cover to release.
   • Lift the back cover off the display assembly base.
3. System Board Shield
   • Identify the system board shield highlighted in blue.
   • Remove the screws that secure the system board shield to the display assembly base.
   • Lift the system board shield off the display assembly base.
4. Heat Sink
   • Identify the heatsink highlighted in blue.
   • Loosen the captive screws that secure the heatsink. Loosen in reverse sequential order.
   • Lift the heat sink off the system board.
   • Use the alcohol pad to clean the heatsink (as shown in the video).
5. Processor
   • Identify the processor highlighted in blue.
   • Press down and push the release lever away from the processor to release it from the securing tab.
   • Extend the release lever completely and open the processor cover.
   • Gently lift the processor from the processor socket.

Install

1. Processor
   • Identify the processor location highlighted in blue.
   • Ensure that the release lever on the processor socket is fully extended in the open position.
   • Align the notches on the processor with the tabs on the processor socket and place the processor in the processor socket.
   • When the processor is fully seated in the socket, pivot the release lever down and place it under the tab on the processor.
2. Heat Sink
   • Identify the heatsink location highlighted in blue.
   • Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
   • Install the heatsink into the slot on the system board.
   • Tighten the captive screws that secure the heat sink. Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
3. System Board Shield
   • Identify the system board shield location highlighted in blue.
   • Place the system board shield on the display assembly base and align with screw holes.
   • Install the screws that secure the system board shield to the display assembly base.
4. Back Cover
   • Identify the back cover location highlighted in blue.
   • Align the back cover to the display assembly base.
   • Slide the back cover into place on the display assembly base.
5. Stand
   • Identify the stand location highlighted in blue.
   • Align the stand to the slot with the display assembly base.
   • Slide the stand into place into the slot on the display assembly base.
