Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the base cover.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover.
Using a plastic scribe, pry the base cover from the bottom left and around the sides to release.
Lift and slide the base cover off the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Carefully pull the tape to disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the battery to the system.
Remove the screws that secure the battery to the system.
Remove the battery from the system.
SSD
SSD 2230 - slot 3
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD and thermal shield.
Lift and remove the thermal shield off the solid state drive.
Slide and remove the solid state drive from the slot on the system board.
SSD bracket
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) mounting bracket highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the mounting bracket to the system.
Lift and remove the mounting bracket from the system.
Rear I/O cover
Identify the rear I/O cover highlighted in blue.
Peel and lift the mylar that is covering the system board.
Disconnect and peel the Tron light cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the rear I/O cover to the palm rest assembly.
Remove the screws that secure the rear I/O cover to the palm rest assembly.
Slide the rear I/O cover off the back of the system. Use the rubber feet to push evenly from both sides.
Lift the rear I/O cover from the system and remove the mylar.
Right I/O board
Disconnect the speaker cable from the right I/O board.
Remove the screws that secure the cable connecting the right I/O board and system board.
Lift the right I/O board cable off the right I/O board and system board.
Remove the screws that secure the right I/O board to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the right I/O board off the palm rest assembly.
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the wireless card bracket to the left I/O board.
Lift the wireless card bracket off the left I/O board.
Disconnect the antenna cables from the wireless card.
Peel the tapes securing the antenna cables to system board and left fan.
Open the latch, and disconnect the power-button cable from the left I/O-board.
Disconnect the power adapter port cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the solid-state drive support bracket to the system board.
Remove the solid state drive support bracket from the system board.
Lift the latch and disconnect the keyboard-controller board-cable from the system board.
Lift the latch and disconnect the touchpad cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the fan and heat-sink assembly.
Remove the screws that secure the fan and heat-sink assembly to the palm rest.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest.
Remove the screws that secure the left I/O-board to the palm rest.
Lift the system board assembly from the palm rest.
Keyboard
Identify the keyboard assembly highlighted in blue.
Open the latch and disconnect the keyboard-backlight cable from the keyboard-controller board.
Open the latch and disconnect the keyboard-controller board cable from the keyboard-controller board.
Open the latch and disconnect the keyboard cable from the keyboard-controller board.
Fold up the touchpad cable so that it is no longer resting on the keyboard.
Fold up the power-button assembly cable so that it is no longer resting on the keyboard.
Remove the screws that secure the keyboard bracket to the keyboard and palmrest.
Lift the keyboard bracket off the keyboard.
Remove the screws that secure the keyboard to the palmrest.
Lift the keyboard off the palmrest
Install
Keyboard
Identify the keyboard assembly location highlighted in blue.
Place the keyboard and its cables on the palmrest.
Replace the screws that secure the keyboard to the palmrest.
Place the keyboard bracket on the keyboard.
Replace the screws that secure the keyboard bracket to the palmrest.
Fold down the touchpad cable so that it rests on the keyboard.
Fold down the power-button assembly cable so that it rests on the keyboard.
Connect the keyboard-backlight cable to the keyboard-controller board and close the latch.
Connect the keyboard-controller board cable to the keyboard-controller board and close the latch.
Connect the keyboard cable to the keyboard-controller board and close the latch.
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly location highlighted in blue.
Place the system board assembly into the slot on the palm rest.
Install the screws that secure the left I/O-board.
Install the screws that secure the system board.
Install the screws that secure the fan and heat-sink assembly.
Install the screws that secure the fan and heat-sink assembly.
Connect the touchpad cable to the touchpad and close the latch.
Connect the keyboard controller board cable. Close the latch to secure.
Connect the power adapter port cable to the system board.
Install the solid state drive bracket, aligning the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the solid-state drive support bracket to the system board.
Route the antenna cables through the routing guides on the left fan and system board.
Adhere the tapes that secure the antenna cables to system board and left fan.
Connect the gray cable to the connector with the clear triangle on the wireless card.
Connect the orange cable to the black triangle on the wireless card.
Connect the power button cable to the left I/O-board and close the latch.
Place the wireless card bracket on the wireless card.
Install the screw that secures the wireless card bracket to the left I/O-board.
Right I/O board
Identify the right I/O board location highlighted in blue.
Using the alignment posts, install the right I/O board into the slot on the system.
Install the screws that secure the right I/O-board to the palm rest assembly.
Using the alignment pins, connect the right I/O board cable on the right I/O board and the system board.
Install the screws that secure the right I/O board cable to the right I/O board and system board.
Connect the speaker cable to the connector on the right I/O board.
Rear I/O cover
Identify the rear I/O cover location highlighted in blue.
Position the rear I/O cover with the mylar over the system board and the cable below the mylar.
Push the rear I/O cover into the palm rest assembly snapping it into place.
Connect the Tron light cable to the system board.
Adhere the mylar into place onto the system board.
Install the screws that secure the rear I/O cover to the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the rear I/O cover to the palm rest assembly.
SSD bracket
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Place and align the mounting bracket on the system.
Install the screw that secures the mounting bracket to the system.
SSD 2230 - slot 3
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch with the tab and slide the SSD into the slot.
Install the thermal shield on the solid state drive.
Install the screw that secure the SSD and shield.
SSD
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Install the battery into the slot on the system.
Install the screws that secure the battery to the system.
Install the screws that secure the battery to the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Slide the notches under the rear I/O-cover and snap the base cover into place.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the base cover.
Install the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
