Try the system reset. Disconnect the battery and unplug the adapter. Then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Then reconnect everything and try again. If the reset worked properly the system should begin charging as normal. And I would not attempt any BIOS update without a fully charged battery. In fact unless the BIOS updates an urgent issue I would not update it at all.

I did not see the pic earlier as it had not been verified by the moderator. That error does indicate a battery problem. It could be as simple as a loose or poor battery connection. Of course it is also possible that the battery needs to be replaced. The following forum posts should help.

I am having a similar problem, I have Inspiron 15R 5521 - i5 - 3rd gen. when I plugin my adaptor then only i can use a laptop, and at that time battery charging light shows orange and 0% available. I called Dell support, they said they are not supporting my laptop anymore so I took it to a local repair shop they said the charging section is not working and we have to replace the motherboard.

Please suggest what should I do.

Thanks
