If you want to deploy Intel Unite® Solution, please check your Dell order. Intel Unite® Solution must be part of your order at the time of purchase of Optiplex platforms. Adding Intel Unite® at point-of-sale creates a BIOS flag without which you will not be able to install/configure Intel Unite® Solution.
What is Intel Unite?
Intel Unite® solution makes it fast and easy for people to collaborate, meet and wirelessly share, view or interact with each other’s content. Intel Unite® also integrates with Zoom, WebEx and other conferencing applications. Intel Unite has 3 software components (Server, Hub and Client), Hub component is installed on OptiPlex platform.
What platforms are supported by Intel Unite®?
OptiPlex 7-series MFF, 24” AIO, 27” AIO, Ultra and XE MFF are supported by Intel Unite®.
Is Intel Unite® solution pre-installed at factory?
Due to the complexity of the solution (various components, dependencies on configuration), Dell only installs a placeholder app in factory. Expectation is that the customer downloads the desired version from the downloads page.
What does the BIOS flag do, and what happens if it's not enabled?
BIOS flag when set, marks the platform as Unite-capable. Intel Unite, when being installed, checks for this flag and fails installation if BIOS flag is not set. That is if you will not be able to use Intel Unite® if not added at the time of purchase.
Why the new requirement?
Dell is bound contractually to implement this requirement, for Intel to better track sales. While other OEMs already follow the prescribed process, Intel allowed exception for Dell for the last 2+ years and doesn't want to support the exception going forward.
What platforms are affected by this new requirement?
While it was always recommended to add Intel Unite SKU when applicable, the latest generation platforms has to have the SKU added at the time of purchase for you to configure and install Intel Unite. The affected platforms include:
