Replacing the power suppy in a Dell desktop is a relatively simple procedure. It should take about 20 minutes to complete. Before you begin, we recommend you take a few minutes to prepare. This video provides a general overview, but some systems may have slight differences. If you encounter any issues, refer to your manual for additional information. Third, locate a standard phillips head screw driver. To get started, disconnect all cables from your computer especially the power cable.
Press the power button to discharge any remaining power in the system. Remove the computer cover. Disconnect the power cables from the system board and any internal devices. Remove the screws securing the power supply to the chassis.
Press the power supply clamp to release it from the chassis. Slide the power supply from the system. Slide the power supply in until the power supply clamp latches in to place.
Replace the screws securing the power supply to the chassis. Reconnect the power cables to the system board and the internal devices and drives. Replace the cover, and reconnect the power and other external cables. You have successfully replaced your power supply.
