Prerequisites
Follow the safety guidelines listed inSafety instructions.
Removing the front bezel:
Unlock the bezel.
Press the blue release latch at the top of the bezel to release the bezel from the system.
Unhook the bezel tabs from the slots at the bottom, and lift the bezel.
Using the management software, prepare the drive for removal.
If the drive is online, the green activity or fault indicator flashes while the drive is turning off. When the drive indicators are off, the drive is ready for removal. For more information, see the storage controller documentation.
Removing a drive carrier:
Press the release button to open the drive carrier release handle.
Holding the handle, slide the drive carrier out of the drive slot.
NOTE If you are not replacing the drive immediately, install a drive blank in the empty drive slot to maintain proper system cooling.
Installing the drive carrier:
Press the release button on the front of the drive carrier to open the release handle.
Insert the drive carrier into the drive slot and push until the drive connects with the backplane.
Close the drive carrier release handle to lock the drive in place.
NOTE The procedure to install a 2.5-inch or a 3.5-inch drive are the same.
Installing the front bezel:
Align and insert the bezel tabs into the slots in the system.
Press the release latch, and push the bezel toward the system until the bezel locks into place.
Lock the bezel.
Installing the system cover:
Align the tabs on the system cover with the slots on the system.
Press the cover release latch, and push the cover toward the system until the latch locks into place.
Using a 1/4-inch flat head or a Phillips #2 screwdriver, rotate the cover release latch lock clockwise to the locked position.
Place the system upright on a flat, stable surface.
Reconnect the peripherals and connect the system to the electrical outlet.
Power on the attached peripherals and then power on the system.
