In this video, we'll explain the new features that are part of Rugged Control Center 4.0. Rugged Control Center 4.0 has a new user interface and loads faster when compared to the previous versions.
4.0 helps you customize your Rugged device for your specific Rugged workflows to provide the best experience possible. This application consists of three sections: Dashboard, "Program", and "Feature List".
The new "Dashboard" section makes learning about your device and discovering the various customizable elements easy. As customizations are made, the "Dashboard" provides a summary of your choices.
The "Program" section allows you to view and customize the programmable actions in the "Programmable Buttons" and "Edge" menus. To set the programmable actions select the features by following the instructions, and save them.
The "Feature List" section provides a comprehensive list of features for your Rugged device. You can explore features using the toggles and quick launch buttons to discover which tools will work best for your specific workflow.
Once familiar with the device, and customizations are made, more advanced users will notice the program details associated with each feature and the ability to quickly edit them.
In 4.0, we have made several enhancements to the ribbon feature. Edge menus could appear from the top, bottom, left and right edge of the screen.
These menus stay hidden. They can be invoked using the "Programmable Buttons", or keyboard shortcuts from "F1" to "F11", or from the "Feature List" section.
You can fill each of these menus with up to five features to support you in your work. Earlier, RCC must be running at the front end of your system for these customizations to function.
So in 4.0, we work to minimize our app footprint by running it in the background. After minimizing, the app icon can be viewed in the "Task Bar".
We also optimize the dormant state of the app to consume less battery and CPU making it practically unnoticeable. With the new "Policy Generator" administrators now have the ability to create policies that can be pushed to a set of devices, making customizations consistent and easy.
If compliance is critical, administrators can disable editing various programs. When in the "Locked" state, end users can open RCC to learn about the device and the customizations that have been made, but will not be able to make any changes.
