In this video, we'll demonstrate how to remove the M.2 2230 solid-state drive or SSD, and install an M.2 2280 SSD. Before removing the SSD, read through the safety guidelines to protect your computer from potential damage and ensure your personal safety.

Then, turn off your computer and disconnect all attached peripherals. To get started, loosen the two captive screws that secure the side cover to the computer. Using the tab on the right side of the cover, slide back and lift the side cover away from the chassis. Now, let's remove the M.2 2230 SSD from the slot and install the M.2 2280 SSD. Remove the single screw that secures the SSD to the system board.
Slide and remove the SSD from its slot on the system board. Remove the standoff screw installed in the M.2 2230 mounting hole and install it into the M.2 2280 mounting hole. Align the notch on the M.2 2280 SSD with the tab on the card slot. Now, insert it at an angle into the card slot.
Replace the single screw that secures the SSD to the system board. Align the tabs on the side cover with the slots on the chassis. Slide the side cover toward the front of the computer. Now, tighten the two captive screws to secure the side cover to the computer.
You've now successfully removed the M.2 2230 SSD and installed an M.2 2280 SSD. Now, connect all attached peripherals and turn on your computer. For more information, see the Service Manual at: Dell.com/support.
