Symptoms
The ACLs for the entire drive were corrupted after ransomware attack.
The root drive ACLs are not restored when using the flags below (in avtar.cmd):
--restore-acls-only --existing-dir-aclrestore --detect-acl-changes
Cause
During the ACLs restore, the 'avtar' is using functions SetNamedSecurityInfoW and SetFileSecurity.
Per Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN), these functions are used for files and directories.
Resolution
Permanent resolution:
Upgrade the Avamar Server to.
- 19.4.100-116 or later
- The fix is incorporated in Avamar 19.4 and later software releases.
