PowerStore Alerts: Alerts for Platform Root Capacity

Symptoms

When Dell PowerStore encounters an issue, an error alert is generated to help identify the issue. This article explains the different possible causes and the relevant solutions for these error alerts.

Cause

Alert ID PLATFORM_ROOT_PARTITION_HIGH
Alert Text Root partition usage of node %(which) has exceeded %(percent)% on mount %(mount).
     or in earlier versions of PowerStore:
Root partition usage of node <node name> has exceeded <%(percent)>.
Error Code (0x00400601)
Description Capacity available to the Platform Root Partition has crossed the utilization threshold. Cluster performance may be impacted.
Cause The Platform Root Partition capacity has crossed the utilization threshold in use.
Resolution

Most causes leading to partition full conditions have been resolved in PowerStoreOS LTS-v4.1.x.

After resolving the current condition, update the PowerStore Appliance to PowerStoreOS LTS-v4.1.x or higher.

Recovery:
The self-service action is to install and use the svc_partion_cleanup service script to investigate and clean up the root partitions. 

Log in to a valid Dell.com account to review the two articles listed below. 

If the issues persist or return, contact Dell Technical Support for assistance. 

For PowerStore X appliances, the recommendation is to use the core dump cleanup script every day to prevent reaching the 80% threshold during the daily data collection: (1) Old data collections, (2) Journal files, (3) One or two old core files

Error Code (0x00400602)
Description Capacity available to the Platform Root Partition has crossed the utilization threshold of 95%. Write operations may be rejected.
Cause Almost all the capacity available to the Platform Root Partition has been used.
Resolution

Most causes leading to partition full conditions have been resolved in PowerStoreOS LTS-v4.1.x.

After resolving the current condition, update the PowerStore Appliance to PowerStoreOS LTS-v4.1.x or higher.

Recovery:
