Windows Cannot Verify Dell Optimizer Driver During Install

Cause
When installing Dell Precision Optimizer, a Windows Security message may provide a warning on driver software.

This error is due to a Dell Data Vault driver mismatch contained between Dell SupportAssist and Dell Precision Optimizer.
Resolution
If presented with this error during the Dell Precision Optimizer installation, click Don’t install this driver software. Dell Precision Optimizer operates using the SupportAssist Dell Data Vault driver.
If Install this driver software anyway is clicked, the computer may experience a blue screen due to Dell Data Vault driver version dependencies in SupportAssist.
To resolve the blue screen:
- Boot into Windows safe mode.
- Right-click the Windows Start Menu and then click Apps & features.
- Click Uninstall on Dell SupportAssist.
- On removal of SupportAssist, click Uninstall on Dell Precision Optimizer.
- Reboot the computer.
- Install SupportAssist.
Note: To download Dell SupportAssist, reference Dell SupportAssist for PCs.
- Install Dell Precision Optimizer.
- During the Windows Security alert prompt, click Don’t install this driver software.
Note: To download Dell Precision Optimizer, select your Precision model and then click Drivers & Downloads.
