Symptoms

To unregister, go to Unisphere for PowerMax > Settings > Management > Secure Connect Gateway and click Unregister.

Authorization failure. Incorrect credentials were provided for gateway: 11.22.33.44:9443

Cause

The registration which is shown in Unisphere for PowerMax is stale and got stuck somehow.

Resolution

High-level overview of the resolution:

  • Stop SMAS
  • Rename or Delete the .../opt/emc/SMAS/jboss/standalone/data/esrs/esrs.json file
  • Start SMAS

Procedure for different variants of Unisphere for PowerMax:

In Windows: Go to services.msc:

  • Stop Symmetrix Management Application Server service
  • Rename or Delete the ...\EMC\SMAS\jboss\standalone\data\esrs\esrs.json file
  • Start Symmetrix Management Application Server service

Alternatively, using Windows command line:

  • Net stop EMC Symmetrix Management Application Server
  • Rename or Delete the ...\EMC\SMAS\jboss\standalone\data\esrs\esrs.json file
  • Net start EMC Symmetrix Management Application Server

In Linux:

  • systemctl stop u4p.service
  • Rename or Delete the .../opt/emc/SMAS/jboss/standalone/data/esrs/esrs.json file
  • systemctl start u4p.service

For Embedded Unisphere for PowerMax 10.x, it must be done from backend by support so raise a case with Dell Technologies PowerMax support team.
