Rugged Control Center 4.0 Record Options in Barcode Setting Do Not Function Correctly When Recording Prefix and Suffix Simultaneously

Symptoms

You may encounter a situation when using the RCC 4.0 application where the record options in barcode settings do not function correctly when trying to record Prefix and Suffix simultaneously. When you stop recording on Prefix, it stops recording on Suffix and conversely.

Affected Platforms:

  • Dell Latitude Rugged Devices with Barcode scanner attached

Affected Configuration:

  • Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit


You may see this issue during the following scenarios:
 

Scenario 1

  1. Open the Barcode settings page in RCC application settings
  2. Click the Record button on Prefix
  3. Click the Record button on Suffix
  4. Capture key values
  5. Stop on Suffix stops record on Prefix. The same happens the opposite way.

Scenario 2

  1. Open the Barcode settings page in RCC application settings
  2. Click the Record button on Prefix
  3. Click Alphanumeric option on Suffix
  4. Capture key values
  5. Key values are captured only in Prefix.
  6. Same scenarios on Suffix Record and Prefix Alphanumeric capture

Cause

When recording has started, the corresponding textbox gets the focus and allows the text typed by the user to be captured. Other controls are not getting the value because it is not in focus. Only one control is in focus at a time.

Resolution

Work with one Record option at a time. Stop the record before proceeding to the next input control.
