Instructions
SNMP Traps are alert messages sent from a remote SNMP-enabled device to a central collector, the "SNMP manager." A Trap might tell you that an alert has been raised for a device.
Trap messages use Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) to enable communication between an SNMP Agent on a device and an SNMP Manager.
To get a list of vCenter alerts using the VCDB database:
- Connect to vCenter using SSH
- Enter the command below to output the vCenter alarm list to a text file:
psql VCDB -U postgres -c "select * from vpx_alarm;">/var/tmp/MyFile.txt - Connect to vCenter with an application like WinSCP and download the file from
/var/tmp - Upload the file to Excel and edit as needed.
