Connectrix B-Series and MDS-Series: How to check the link connectivity between a host and storage on SAN switches

Article Content

Instructions

  • How to check the link connectivity between a host and storage on SAN switches.
  • How to do a health check on Brocade and Cisco SAN switches.

In a SAN fabric, a SAN switch is to make the zone members normally communicates with each other, and to provide a stable link at the fibre channel s FC-4 layer. To check the link connectivity on SAN switches, you should do the following tasks:

1. Check the physical links
Check if the port is online, the port speed is correct, and the device type is FC_SW/FC_AL.

2. Check device FLOGI, PLOGI logins

Check if the devices FLOGI/PLOGI login normally and are successfully registered in Name Server.
