Dell EMC System Update (DSU) is a script optimized update deployment tool for applying Dell Update Packages (DUP) to Dell EMC PowerEdge servers.

- DSU for Linux can work with either the Dell Enterprise Catalog (or a custom catalog created using Dell Repository Manager) or the Dell Linux Repository for access to Linux update packages
Note: Dell recommends using the Dell Enterprise Catalog as it is refreshed on Fridays, while Linux Repository is refreshed on the 2nd and 3rd Friday.
- DSU for Windows and Linux works with the Dell Enterprise Catalog (or a custom catalog created using Dell Repository Manager)
- Option to create a custom bootable ISO
- DSU is the technology used by Dell EMC Repository Manager for the Smart Bootable ISO and Smart Deployment Scrip features.

Once DSU is installed on a system it will:
- Inventory the PowerEdge server and determine what updateable components are installed
- Determine which components have new updates available
- Apply those updates

DSU 1.9.1
- Proxy is used when user tries to connect to repository or get updates by user configured proxy only with online or downloads.dell.com repository.
- Support for https connection using the certificate with catalog or source location. Also, https is used to get repository and catalog details.
- DSU downloads and updates dynamically the signature file that is provided along with catalog location from the index catalog .
- To skip invalid or unavailable category filters during updates.
- Support for Hyper Converged Infrastructure operating system.
DSU 1.9.2
- Support for new installation application like Operating System driver pack and OMSA(Windows)
- Support for PERC DUP exit code 18 (Virtual AC cycle required) and 19 (Container/Chassis Power cycle is required).
- NOTE: Exit codes are for DUP only.
- Display of hard dependency on the console.
- DSU supports multi-level dependency component updates with reboot condition.
