Summary:   
The DNS protocol used by SmartConnect within Dell EMC Isilon OneFS requires a security update to address various vulnerabilities.

  • Denial of Service Vulnerability

Dell EMC Isilon OneFS versions 8.2.2 and earlier contain a denial of service vulnerability. SmartConnect had an error condition that may be triggered to loop, using CPU and potentially preventing other SmartConnect DNS responses.

Remediation:    
For Dell EMC Isilon OneFS versions 8.2.2, 8.2.1, and 8.1.2, the fix for this issue is included in the March 2020 Rollup Patches and will be included in future Rollup Patches. For more information on this fix and to obtain a Rollup patch, see the Current Isilon OneFS Patches document.

For Dell EMC Isilon versions 8.2.0 and 8.1.0.4, we recommend that you upgrade to a newer version of OneFS at your earliest opportunity.
