Microsoft Office Sign-in Error

Symptoms

When you open a Microsoft Office application, you may see a window saying "Sign in required."

You then receive a "Something went wrong" C0090030 error message when you try to sign in.

Cause

Windows uses the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) chip to protect credentials. When the TPM is cleared, the data is lost, and this causes the Azure AD authentication to fail.

Resolution

To resolve this error, you must disconnect and re-connect to the Azure domain.
