Instructions

Filename and partition issues are detected:

  • System Health Check detects an incorrect PowerStoreOS version in the recovery partition, or the layout of the recovery partition is incorrect.
  • Pre Upgrade Health Check (PUHC) reports the secondary m.2 check failed .
  • Pre Upgrade Health Check (PUHC) detects an incorrect filename of the PowerStoreOS package.

As a result, one of the following messages may be raised:

  • Recovery image has a different version with the running version. Check failed. (KB#000200075) - System Check only.
  • Secondary M.2 has incorrect layout (KB#000200075) - System Check only.
  • Failed to mount the recovery partition (KB#000200075) - System Check only.
  • Recovery partition is allocated to an incorrect device. (KB#000200075) - System Check only.
  • PUHC Error : Platform Node A secondary m.2 check failed (0XE10010080012)
  • PUHC Error : Platform Node B secondary m.2 check failed (0XE10010080014)
  • The OS Package <text> does not have a standard name (off_release_check_os_package_name_failed) - thin package PUHC health check only.
  • "ERROR: illegal file name format for package <package name>. It must be <filename> (0xE04030010001)" - PUHC health check for upgrade to 3.2.1.0 and greater.
  • "ERROR: illegal file name format for package <package name>. It must be <filename> (0xE04030010016)" - PUHC health check for upgrade to 3.2.1.0 and greater.

This health check may be raised in one of the following scenarios:

  • Running a System Check using the PowerStore Manager user interface (UI) with the Run Upgrade Extensions option (PowerStoreOS 2.1.x only).
  • Running a System Check using the PowerStore Manager with the Run System Check option.
  • Running the System Health Service Script (svc_health_check) using an SSH connection.
  • Running Pre-Upgrade Health Check (PUHC) (PowerStore 3.x only).

Possible results

  • If the System Check detects an invalid PowerStoreOS version in the recovery partition, or other recovery partition issues, the node is not properly configured. As a result, a future attempt to recover the node may fail.
See KB 000200844 PowerStore: PowerStoreOS re-installation (node repair) failed when file name of package used was changed after download from the Dell Support Site.
  • If the Pre Upgrade Health Check (PUHC) detects an incorrect filename of the PowerStoreOS package, an upgrade or PUHC may fail.
This may occur if a file is downloaded twice and the second file gets an extra (1) appended to the name, if the file is renamed in any way, and so on. Examples of problematic formats:
    • PowerStoreXXX.tgz (1).bin (appended characters)
    • PowerStoreXXX.tgz1.bin (appended characters)
    • powerstoret-XXX.tgz.bin (lower case characters where upper case is expected)
  • Do not proceed with upgrades or maintenance operations until the issues are solved.

To resolve this issue

  • If found during PUHC, delete the package being installed from the PowerStore Manager and upload a package with a valid name.
  • For all other cases, contact Dell Technical Support or your Authorized Service Representative, and quote this knowledge base article ID.

Tip: The Profile field displays Upgrade Extensions when the Run Upgrade Extensions option is used to perform a System Check.

Example of the System Health Service Script (svc_health_check) using an SSH connection:
[SVC:service@xxxxxxx-B user]$ svc_health_check run -rhc recovery_partition_image_check -p Upgrade_Extensions
Name Location Status Description
recovery partition image ch.. node_a FAILED Recovery image has a different version with the running version. Check failed. (KB#000200075)
recovery partition image ch.. node_b FAILED Recovery image has a different version with the running version. Check failed. (KB#000200075)
