Symptoms

Unable to delete RecoverPoint device failed with error
 "The operation cannot be performed because the device is mapped"
Ran the following command and found that device had FA mapping and it was a RecoverPoint device:
symdev -sid <SID> show <dev_id>

Ran the following command to confirm cluster details:
symrpi -sid <SID> list

Then ran the following command:
symrpi -sid <SID> list -cluster <Cluster_Name> -detail

Cause

User removed the device from RecoverPoint SG without performing an unprotect operation.

Resolution

Use the below command to remove RecoverPoint External tag from the device:
symrpi -sid <SID>  -cluster <cluster_name> unprotect -devs <dev_id>
Once the RecoverPoint tag is removed, delete the device as it would remove FA mapping which was due to RecoverPoint.
symdev -sid <SID> delete <dev_id>
