Síntomas
On HD400 nodes, isi_radish sometimes shows 'No such drive: adaX' when querying one or both boot drives, for example:
cluster-7# isi_radish -a /dev/ada0 No such drive: "/dev/ada0"
On older versions of IOCA, this can cause the boot drive health checks to fail:
FAIL: Master boot disk information not found on the following nodes: 7
However, when checking 'gmirror status' output, the boot drive mirrors show as complete and using the supposedly missing boot drive, and 'camcontrol devlist' also shows the supposedly missing drive as present.
Causa
This is caused by an incorrect BIOS setting in combination with a newer boot drive that is installed in the node. The boot drives that were originally shipped in these nodes were not affected by this BIOS setting; however the newer replacement drives are, which causes them to not report SMART status to isi_radish correctly, leading to this error.
Resolución
Changing the "AHCI Capable SATA Controller" BIOS setting to "COMPATIBILITY" should resolve this issue. This can easily be done from within OneFS by using the syscfg utility.
1) Check the current value of the setting by running:
# /usr/bin/isi_hwtools/syscfg /d biossettings "AHCI Capable SATA Controller"
The output should look like this (important line bolded for emphasis):
2) Change the setting:
# syscfg /bcs "" "AHCI Capable SATA Controller" 01
NOTE: If the node has a BIOS password set, enter it between the " " quotes at the beginning of the command.
3) Check to ensure the change took effect:
# /usr/bin/isi_hwtools/syscfg /d biossettings "AHCI Capable SATA Controller"
The output should show the changed value:
>AHCI Capable SATA Controller >============================ >Current Value : COMPATIBILITY >-------------------- >Possible Values >--------------- >ENHANCED : 00 >COMPATIBILITY : 01 >AHCI : 02 >RAID Mode : 03 >Disabled : 04
4) Reboot the node:
# reboot
