Symptoms

A brief buzzing or static-like sound may be heard from the speakers when starting the Alienware Command Center (AWCC), switching between the BATTERY, QUIET, BALANCED, or PERFORMANCE presets within AWCC, or when connecting or disconnecting the AC power adapter.

Affected Platforms:

  • Alienware 16 Area-51 AA16250
  • Alienware 16 Aurora AC16250
  • Alienware 16X Aurora AC16251
  • Alienware 18 Area-51 AA18250

Cause

When AWCC starts or applies a performance change, it briefly communicates with the system's firmware and operating system. This communication momentarily pauses background tasks, including audio processing, which can produce a short, audible sound through the speakers.

Resolution

This behavior is expected and does not indicate a hardware defect. No action is required. The sound stops automatically once the AWCC has fully launched, or the performance preset change has been completed.
