PowerScale: How to Delete Cloud_telemetry Files Generated in /ifs/data/Isilon_Support/pkg

CloudPools Telemetry reports were redirected from /ifs/.ifsvar/modules/cloud/telemetry_reports to /ifs/data/Isilon_Support/pkg for pickup by Secure Remote Services starting with OneFs 8.x.

Telemetry reports are generated to give Isilon statistical information of what is being archived to different cloud providers. CloudPools generate XML telemetry files daily under /ifs/data/Isilon_Support/pkg.  

If Secure Remote Services is configured on that cluster, it periodically pushes all XML files back to Dell and cleans up the directory.

If Secure Remote Services is not configured or enabled, telemetry files accumulate and the files are not getting cleaned and consume increasing amounts of disk space.

Work around to clean the files that are filling up the /ifs/data/Isilon_Support/pkg directory:
  1. Manually clean up the files.
  2. Set up a schedule to cleanup these files regularly:
# isi_gconfig -t cpool_d_cfg |grep cleanup_schedule.schedule_info
cleanup_schedule.schedule_info (char*) = 0 0 0 1 3 *
(where (0 0 0 1 3 *) is (ss-mm-hh-dd-mm-yy) 
The default is to clear these files at 00:00:00 on April 1 every year.

To change the schedule to clean files:
For example, at 00:00:00 on the first day every month) run: 
# isi_gconfig -t cpool_d_cfg cleanup_schedule.schedule_info="0 0 0 1 * *"

# isi_gconfig -t cpool_d_cfg |grep cleanup_schedule.schedule_info
cleanup_schedule.schedule_info (char*) = 0 0 0 1 * *
