Installing a 1.8 inch uSATA SSD carrier
Prerequisites
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that are shipped with your product.
CAUTION: Use only SSDs that have been tested and approved for use with the SSD backplane.
- Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety
instructions section.
NOTE: The 1.8 inch uSATA SSDs are hot swappable only with software RAID S130.
- If your system does not support software RAID S130, turn off your system.
Steps
- If an SSD blank is installed in the SSD slot, remove it.
- Install the SSD in the SSD carrier.
- Press the release button on the front of the SSD carrier, and open the SSD carrier handle.
- Insert the SSD carrier into the SSD slot until the carrier connects with the backplane.
- Close the SSD carrier handle to lock the SSD
in place.
