Removing the HDD/ODD bracket
Prerequisites
- Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the side cover.
- Remove the 3.5 in. HDD.
About this task
The following image indicates the location of the HDD/ODD bracket and provides a visual representation of the removal procedure.
Steps
- Release the ODD power and SATA cables from tabs on the side of the ODD bracket.
- Remove the single #6-32 screw securing the ODD bracket to the chassis.
- Lift the ODD bracket from the chassis.
- Push the ODD to unlock it.
- Disconnect the SATA power and data connectors from the ODD.
- Lift and remove the ODD bracket from the chassis.
