Removing the system board

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer .
  2. Remove the:
    1. cover

    2. front bezel

    3. 2.5 inch hard drive assembly

    4. cooling shroud

    5. optical drive

    6. M.2 PCIe SSD

    7. heat sink assembly

    8. memory module

    9. processor

    10. expansion card

    11. SD card

  3. Disconnect the following cables from the system board:
    1. speaker [1]
    2. 2.5–inch drive [2]
    3. optical drive [3]

  4. Disconnect the following cables and screw from the system board:
    1. PSU [1]
    2. hard drive and optical drive caddy stand off screw [2]
    3. PSU [3]
    4. power switch [4]

  5. To remove the I/O panel plate:
    1. Remove the 6 screw that secures the I/O panel [1].
    2. Slide and push toward the front from the computer [2].Figure displaying removing screw
  6. To remove the system board:
    1. Remove the 12 screws that secure the system board to the computer
