Removing the power and volume control board

Steps

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the:
    1. base cover
    2. battery
    3. coin cell battery
  3. To remove the power and volume control board:
    1. Disconnect the power cable from the connector on the system board [1].
      CAUTION: Ensure that you remove the coin cell battery connector on the system board, to avoid damage to the battery cable.
    2. Peel the adhesive tape [2].
    3. Release the volume control board cable from the routing clips .
    4. Remove the M2x3 screw (1) that secures the power and volume control board to the laptop[3].
    5. Remove the plastic power button from the chassis.
    6. Lift the power and volume control board away from the laptop[4].

  4. To remove the power button:
    1. Undo the power button from the retention hooks on the palmrest [1].
    2. Lift and remove the power button from the palmrest assembly [2].
