Deploying additional DDVE appliances in the Cyber Recovery vault

Multiple production DD systems can replicate data to multiple DD Virtual Edition (DDVE) appliances in the Cyber Recovery vault. After the Cyber Recovery solution is deployed on Azure, you can add additional DDVE appliances to the Cyber Recovery vault.

Prerequisites

An additional DDVE is deployed in the Cyber Recovery vault on Azure.

Ensure that you:

  • Follow instructions for deploying a DDVE on Azure in the PowerProtect DD Virtual Edition in Azure Installation and Administration Guide at Dell Online Support.
  • Configure the newly added DDVE so that it is on the same subnetwork as the existing DDVE.
  • Configure the newly added DDVE so that it uses the same security group as the existing DDVE.
  • Create a container in Azure hot blob storage as described in the PowerProtect DD Virtual Edition in Azure Installation and Administration Guide.
NOTE:You cannot access the blob storage on the newly added DDVE until you complete the following steps.

About this task

Perform the following steps to ensure connectivity between the jump host and an additional DDVE in the Cyber Recovery vault:

Steps

  1. In the Azure portal, search for Network Security Groups in the search bar.
  2. Click Network Security Groups.
  3. Find the Network Security Group for the jump host on the deployment.
  4. Edit the security group:
    1. Click the Outbound security rules tab in the left pane.
    2. Click the Allow_Jump_Host_to_DDVE_HTTPS_Out rule name.
    3. In the Destination IP addresses/CIDR ranges field, add the additional DDVE IP addresses as a comma-separated list.
    4. Click Save.
  5. Return to the Dell PowerProtect DDVE in the Azure Cloud Installation and Administration Guide instructions to create a file system on Blob Storage on the newly added DDVE.
