PowerProtect Data Manager 19.19 Microsoft SQL Server User Guide
Protecting Microsoft SQL Server clustered environments
Learn how to configure protection of Microsoft SQL Server clustered environments, including Always On availability groups and Failover Cluster Instances.
About this task
PowerProtect Data Manager does not support a distributed Always On availability group (distributed AAG) Microsoft SQL Server. A distributed AAG is a special type of availability group that spans two separate availability groups.
PowerProtect Data Manager does not support a clusterless Always On Failover Cluster Instance (AAG over FCI) Microsoft SQL Server. An AAG is clusterless when you select NONE for the Cluster type on the Availability Group Options page in the SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
PowerProtect Data Manager supports a clustered AAG over FCI Microsoft SQL Server. To configure a clustered AAG, select Windows Server Failover Cluster for the Cluster type on the Availability Group Options page in the SSMS.
