Removing the display assembly

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Enter service mode.
  3. Remove the SIM card.
  4. Remove the microSD card.
  5. Remove the base cover.
  6. Remove the WLAN card.
  7. Remove the WWAN card.

Steps

  1. Remove the two screws (M2x3) that secure the display cable bracket to the system board.
  2. Lift the display cable bracket away from the system board.
  3. Using the pull tab, gently disconnect the display cable from the connector on the system board.
    CAUTION:The display cable, sensor board cable and IR camera cable are part of the same composite cable structure. To avoid damaging the cables, and the cable connectors on the system board, do not apply tension on any of these cables until all cables in the series have been disconnected.
  4. Disconnect the IR camera cable from the connector on the system board.
  5. Disconnect the sensor board cable from the connector on the system board.
  6. Remove the display cable, sensor board cable and IR camera cable from the routing guide on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
  7. Remove the four screws (M2.5x3) that secure the display hinges to the system board.
  8. Lift the palm-rest and keyboard assembly to pry open the display hinges.
  9. Remove the palm-rest and keyboard assembly off the display assembly.
