Removing the Heatsink Assembly

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove:
    1. battery

    2. base cover

    3. keyboard trim

    4. keyboard

    5. SSD card

    6. palmrest

    7. WWAN card

    8. WLAN card

    9. hinge cover

    10. SIM board

    11. display assembly

  3. Disconnect the system-fan cable from its connector on the system board. Figure displaying disconnecting the system fan cable.
  4. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Remove the screws that secure the heatsink assembly to the system board [1].
    2. Remove the heatsink assembly from the system board [2].
