Removing the 5.25-inch Optical Drive

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove:
    1. right cover

  3. Disconnect the data and power cables from the back of the optical drive. Figure displaying the Optical Drive with data cable and power cable
  4. Press the release latch and slide the optical drive outward to release it from the drive bay [1, 2]. Figure displaying the Optical Drive with release latch
  5. Remove the screws from the optical drive and remove the bracket. Figure displaying the Optical Drive with the holder and screws
