Configuring the general central configurations

1. From the desktop menu, click System Setup, and then click Central Configuration.
   The Central Configuration dialog box is displayed.
2. Click General tab, and use the following guidelines:
   
   File Servers/Path, Username, and Password—Enter the IP address or hostname of the file server that provides the system software and update images. The address can be supplied through DHCP, if DHCP is used. If you configure DHCP_Scope option with ftp://server address, http://server address, or https://server address, the File Servers/Path field is filled with ftp://server address/Wyse, http://server address/Wyse, or https://server address/Wyse respectively.

   NOTE: Dell Technologies recommends using HTTPS instead of FTP or HTTP as it is a secure connection.
   1. File Servers/Path—Allows maximum of 127 characters for file server, and maximum of 127 characters for root path. The data specifies part of the path to be used when the server is accessed. By default the File Servers/Path field is filled with https:// after imaging the thin client or after performing a factory reset.
      File server supports failover list. A failover list consists of one or more file server pairs specified in the order of preference. You can provide multiple file servers separated by either a semicolon or colon. The list must not exceed 127 characters. When connecting to a file server, the client attempts to connect to each pair in an order until it finds a working file server pair. It is recommended to limit the file server directory access to administrators.

      NOTE: If you use ftp:// or http:// in the File Servers/Path field, a warning message is displayed. This message is also added in the event log and the First Boot Wizard screen.
   2. Username—Enter the username to log in to the file server. Use maximum of 31 characters.
      NOTE: If you use an FTP connection, a warning message is displayed, recommending to use a user-specific username. This warning message is also added in the event log.
   3. Password—Enter the password to log in to the file server. Use maximum of 31 characters.
3. Click OK to save the settings.
