Removing the heat sink (discrete graphics)
Prerequisites
- Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the base cover.
- Remove the battery.
About this task
The following image indicates the location of the heat sink (on systems with the discrete graphics option) and provides a visual representation of the removal procedure.
Steps
- In reverse-sequential order (as indicated on the heat sink), loosen the seven captive screws that secure the heat sink to the system board.
- Lift the heat sink off the system board.
