Removing the System Board

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove:
    1. SD card
    2. battery
    3. base cover
    4. keyboard trim
    5. keyboard
    6. memory
    7. optical drive
    8. hard drive
    9. WLAN card
    10. display hinge
    11. palmrest
    12. system fan
    13. ExpressCard cage
  3. Disconnect:
    1. coin-cell battery cable
    2. speaker cable

  4. Flip the computer and disconnect:
    1. power cable
    2. status-light board cable
    3. I/O board cable

  5. Perform the following steps:
    1. Remove the screws that secure the display-cable connector and remove it from the system board.
    2. Disconnect the display cables and power-connector cable from the system board. Figure displaying how to disconnect the display cables from the system board.
  6. Remove the screws that secure the system board and lift the system board to remove from the computer.
