This article documents the solution to the NetWorker Management Console (NMC) installation failure to start the gstdbinit process.

The NetWorker Management Console (NMC) server deploys with a self-signed certificate. The self-signed certificate was replaced with a CA signed server certificate. After replacing the certificate on a Windows NMC server, the server's GSTD service fails to start, reporting "gstd NSR warning Error getting certificate and private key for SSL"

A File Level Recovery (FLR) is performed for a Windows Virtual Machine (VM) using the NetWorker VMware Protection (NVP) vProxy appliance. The FLR fails with the message "Some objects, or security properties could not be recovered." For some files, these same files cannot be copied manually from the FLR mountpoint. The source and target VM are different VMs. The VM selected for restore is configured with the Windows File Server Data Deduplication feature enabled.

NetWorker VMware Protection (NVP) Virtual Machine (VM) backups are being performed. During backups, unallocated disk space is being calculated as changed data and is written to Data Domain, resulting in slower than expected backup performance.

The NetWorker VMware Protection (NVP) vProxy appliance is configured to back up a SQL Server 2022 Virtual Machine (VM) using MSVMAPPAGENT. The backup fails with "'Unable to log in to SQL Server instance. Error Code = 1359.'"

After performing a NetWorker disaster recovery (nsrdr) procedure, Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) backups fail with a lockbox error ("Failed to open lockbox"), while NetWorker client file‑system backups continue to complete successfully. The nsrdr process does not fully restore the Oracle client lockbox data, which prevents the NetWorker server from retrieving the Oracle credentials required for RMAN backups. Deleting and re‑creating the affected client lockbox resolves the issue.

The NetWorker Web User Interface (NWUI) Dashboard tab displays the error "Failed to fetch latest counts for Dashboard" and does not show details for Policies, Workflows, and Actions. The error occurs because the NetWorker Runtime Environment (NRE) keystore is either missing the emcnwuimonitoring certificate or contains a certificate whose signature does not match the one used by the NWUI monitoring service. Importing the correct certificate into the NRE keystore and restarting the NetWorker service resolves the issue.

Virtual machine (VM) backups performed with the NetWorker VMware Protection (NVP) vProxy appliance fail intermittently with a "Resource not found" error (code ‑404) because the vProxy ages out a completed backup session before the NetWorker server retrieves the final status. High network latency between the NetWorker storage node and the Data Domain causes the NetWorker server to delay its status‑polling requests, which allows the vProxy session to expire. Reducing the storage‑node‑to‑Data‑Domain latency to below 50 ms resolves the issue.

The NetWorker server nsrmmdbd is being killed by the operating systems "Out of Memory" (OOM) monitor.

NMC was generating the following alert: Cannot write to /Database/Database/97/08/50dea767-00000006-2b43c6c3-6a43c6c3-edd60c00-c89dd629 - errno Invalid argument

VMware Virtual Machines (VM) are protected in a NetWorker group using VMware Category Tags. The NetWorker Management Console (NMC) or NetWorker Web User Interface (NWUI) group VM preview either shows no VMs or VMs are missing. The vSphere environment contains duplicate Categories. The NetWorker VMware Protection (NVP) backup workflow ignores the VMs which are assigned to a Tag that overlaps with a duplicate Category.

NetWorker VMware Protection (NVP) vProxy Virtual Machine (VM) backups sit in "waiting to run" state for a prolonged period of time. There are no vProxy availability issues, communication between the NetWorker server and vProxies is successful. There are no alerts regarding vProxies being unavailable in the NetWorker Management Console (NMC),

A NetWorker server is configured with Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) traps using the nsrtrap command. The command is set on the backup action with "On Failure." After upgrading to 19.11.x from a previous release, the traps receiver only receives a nwServerNotification, the failedActionNotification is no longer received.
