How to replace the Power Button on a Inspiron 3530

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Power Button and a Inspiron 3530. The procedure will also include removing the Base Cover, Battery Cable, I/O Board and reinstalling them.

Removal

Base Cover

Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.

Remove the screws that secure the base cover.

Loosen the captive screws on the base cover.

Using a plastic scribe, pry the base cover near the hinges to release it from the system.

Remove the base cover by loosening the sides and front.

Battery Cable

Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.

Using the pull tab, disconnect the battery cable from the system board.

Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.

I/O Board

Identify the I/O board highlighted in blue.

Remove the screws that secure the left display hinge to the system.

Lift to open the left display hinge.

Remove the screws that secure the I/O board.

Slide and remove the I/O board at angle, from the palm rest assembly.

Power Button

Identify the power button highlighted in blue.

Peel back the tape that secures the finger print reader cable to the palm rest assembly.

Remove the screw that secures the power button to the system.

Lift the power button along with its cable, from the system.

Install

Power Button

Identify the power button location highlighted in blue.

Install the power button into the slot on the system.

Install the screw that secures the power button to the system.

Adhere the tape to secure the finger print reader cable to the palm rest assembly.

I/O Board

Identify the I/O board location highlighted in blue.

Slide and install the I/O board at an angle, on the palm rest assembly using the alignment posts.

Install the screws that secure the I/O board.

Close the left hinge and align the screw holes.

Install the screws to secure the left hinge to the system.

Battery Cable

Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.

Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.

Base Cover

Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.

Install the base cover and press the edges and sides until it snaps into place.

Tighten the screws captive that secure the base cover.

Install the screws that secure the base cover.
