Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Using a Torx #5, remove the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
Place fingers into the recess at the top edge and move your hands to both sides to pry the base cover.
Lift the base cover off the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screw that secures the battery connector bracket to the palm rest assembly.
Unhook and lift the battery connector bracket off the system board.
Using the pull tab, disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the battery to the system.
To remove, use the pull tab to lift the battery slightly and release it from the two hooks on the bottom edge.
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screw that secures the WLAN bracket. Ensure the washer holding the screw stays in place.
Lift the bracket to access the WLAN cables.
Disconnect the wireless module cables from the wireless module.
Lift the latch and disconnect the capacitive touch panel and haptic module cables.
Lift the latch and disconnect the keyboard daughterboard and power button cables.
Peel the tape and disconnect the left and right speakers cables from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the fans to the palm rest.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest.
Remove the system board assembly away from the palm rest.
Power Button with Fingerprint Reader
Identify the power button with fingerprint reader highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secures the power button bracket to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the power button bracket off the palm rest assembly.
Lift the palm rest assembly slightly.
Unthread the power button cable through the opening on the palm rest assembly.
Remove the fingerprint reader along with its cable off the palm rest assembly.
Keyboard
Identify the keyboard highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the keyboard to the palm rest.
Remove the screws that secure the keyboard to the palm rest.
Position the system on flat surface as shown with the keyboard facing up.
Unthread the cables through the openings and remove the keyboard off the palm rest.
Install
Keyboard
Position the palmrest on flat surface as shown.
Identify the keyboard location highlighted in blue.
Thread the cables through the openings and place the keyboard on the palmrest.
Position the palmrest on flat surface as shown.
Install the screws that secure the keyboard assembly to the palmrest.
Install the screws that secure the keyboard assembly to the palmrest.
Power Button with Fingerprint Reader
Identify the power button with fingerprint reader location highlighted in blue.
Lift the palm rest assembly slightly.
Thread the power button cable through the opening on the palm rest assembly.
Align and place the power button along with its cable into the slot on the palmrest.
Lower the palm rest.
Install the power button bracket and align the screw holes.
Install the screws that secures the power button bracket to the palm rest assembly.
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly location highlighted in blue.
Install the system board assembly into the slot on the system and align the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest.
Install the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest.
Install the screws to secure the fans to the palm rest.
Connect the left and right speakers cables and adhere the tape to the system board.
Connect the keyboard daughterboard and power button cables to the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Connect the capacitive touch panel and haptic module cables to the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the cable with white sticker to the main (white triangle).
Install the bracket to secure the antenna cables.
Tighten the captive screw that secures the wireless module (WLAN) bracket.
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Align the battery at an angle so that the tabs fit into the hooks. Lower the battery and align the screw holes.
Install the screws to secure the battery to the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector to the system board.
Slide the hook under the system board and install the bracket to the system board.
Tighten the screw that secures the battery connector bracket to the palm rest assembly.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the base cover and press the edges of the cover until it clicks into place.
Using a Torx #5, install the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
