Removal
Side Cover
Identify the side cover highlighted in blue.
Slide the release latch until your hear a click.
Slide the side cover towards the back of the computer and lift it from the system.
Front bezel
Identify the front bezel highlighted in blue.
Gently pry and release the front bezel tabs sequentially from the top.
Rotate the front bezel outward from the chassis and remove the front bezel.
Internal speaker
Identify the speaker highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the connector on the system board.
Remove the speaker cable from the routing guides on the chassis.
Press the tab, lift and slide the speaker along with the cable from the slot on the chassis.
Intrusion switch
Identify the intrusion switch highlighted in blue.
Remove the intrusion switch cable from the routing guides on the chassis.
Disconnect the intrusion switch cable from the connector on the system board.
Slide and lift the Intrusion switch away from the computer.
Coin Cell Battery
Identify the coin cell battery highlighted in blue.
Push the coin cell battery release lever on the coin cell battery socket to release the coin cell battery out of the socket.
Remove the coin cell battery.
Hard drive assembly
Disk drive cage
Identify the disk drive cage highlighted in blue.
Move the lock handle to unlock the disk drive cage and detach it from the chassis.
Lift the disk drive and detach it from the mounting points on the chassis.
Rotate the drive cage and place it on the chassis.
Lift the disk drive cage away from the computer.
SMA Antenna
Identify the SMA antenna highlighted in blue.
Remove the nut and washer from the two antenna heads.
Gently pry and remove the antenna heads from the chassis.
Remove the antenna cables from routing guides on the system board.
Remove the external SMA antenna kit off the system board.
Expansion card
Identify the expansion card highlighted in blue.
Pull to open the PCIe latch that secures the graphics card.
Hold the tab on the graphics card slot and lift the graphics card out.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the wireless card bracket to the wireless card.
Slide and lift the wireless card bracket off the wireless card.
Disconnect the antenna cables from the wireless card.
Slide and remove the wireless card from the wireless card slot.
Memory Modules
Identify the memory module highlighted in blue.
Using your fingertips, carefully spread apart the securing clips on each end until the memory module pops up.
Slide and remove the memory module from the memory module slot.
Solid State Drive (SSD) 2280
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD to the system board.
Slide and lift the solid state drive from the SSD slot on the system board.
Solid State Drive (SSD) 2230
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD to the system board.
Slide and lift the solid state drive from the SSD slot on the system board.
Processor fan and heat sink assembly
Identify the processor fan and heat sink assembly highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the processor fan cable from the connector on the system board.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the processor fan and heat sink assembly to the system board. Loosen in reverse order.
Lift the processor fan and heat sink assembly off the system board.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the heatsink (as shown in the video).
Processor
Identify the processor highlighted in blue.
Push down the release lever and move it away from the processor to release it from the securing tab.
Extend the release lever completely and open the processor cover.
Gently lift the processor from the processor socket.
Serial module
Identify the serial module highlighted in blue.
Remove the cross type screws that secure the serial module to the chassis.
Disconnect the serial module cable from the connector on the system board.
Slide the serial module off the chassis.
VGA module
Identify the VGA module highlighted in blue.
Remove the cross type screws that secure the VGA module to the chassis.
Disconnect the VGA module cable from the connector on the system board.
Lift the VGA module off the chassis.
DP module
Identify the DP module highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the DP module to the chassis.
Disconnect the DP module cable from the connector on the system board.
Lift the DP module off the chassis.
HDMI module
Identify the HDMI module highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the HDMI module to the chassis.
Disconnect the HDMI module cable from the connector on the system board.
Lift the HDMI module off the chassis.
Type-C module
Identify the Type-C module highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the Type-C module to the chassis.
Disconnect the Type-C module cables from the connectors (VIDEO and TYPE-C) on the system board.
Lift the Type-C module off the system board.
System Board
Identify the system board highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the front I/O bracket to the chassis.
Rotate and remove the front I/O bracket from the chassis.
Disconnect all the cables that are connected to the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the chassis.
Free the system board from the back I/O panel by sliding it towards the towards front and lift the system board out of the chassis.
Install
System Board
Identify the system board location highlighted in blue.
Align and lower the system board into the system until the stand off points at the back of the system board align with those on the chassis.
Install the screws to secure the system board to the chassis.
Route and connect all the cables that you disconnected from the system board.
Place and align the front I/O bracket with I/O slot on the chassis.
Install the screw that secures the front I/O bracket to the chassis.
Type-C module
Identify the Type-C module location highlighted in blue.
Insert the Type-C module into the slot on the chassis.
Connect the Type-C module cables to the connectors (VIDEO and TYPE-C) on the system board.
Install the screws to secure the Type-C module to the chassis.
HDMI module
Identify the HDMI module location highlighted in blue.
Insert the HDMI module into the slot on the chassis.
Connect the HDMI module cable to the connector (VIDEO) on the system board.
Install the screws to secure the HDMI module to the chassis.
DP module
Identify the DP module location highlighted in blue.
Insert the DP module into the slot on the chassis.
Connect the DP module cable to the connector (VIDEO) on the system board.
Install the screws to secure the DP module to the chassis.
VGA module
Identify the VGA module location highlighted in blue.
Insert the VGA module into the slot on the chassis.
Connect the VGA module cable to the connector (VIDEO) on the system board.
Install the cross type screws to secure the VGA module to the chassis.
Serial module
Identify the serial module location highlighted in blue.
Insert the serial module into the slot on the chassis.
Connect the serial module cable to the connector (KB_MS_SERIAL) on the system board
Install the cross type screws to secure the serial module to the chassis.
Processor
Identify the processor location highlighted in blue.
Ensure that the release lever on the processor socket is fully extended in the open position.
Ensure that the pin 1 indicator on the processor socket and the CPU are aligned
Align the notches on the processor with the tabs on the socket and place it on the socket.
Once the processor is in place, lower the release lever and secure it under the tab on the processor cover.
Processor fan and heat sink assembly
Identify the processor fan and heat sink assembly location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
Place the processor fan and heat sink assembly on the system board and align the screw holes.
Tighten the four captive screws that secure the heat stink to the system board. Tighten in order.
Connect the processor fan cable to the connector on the system board.
Solid State Drive (SSD) 2230
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Remove the protective film from the thermal pad and stick it onto the SSD slot on the system board.
Peel off the protective mylar on the thermal pad.
Align the notch with the tab and slide the SSD into the connector.
Install the screw that secure the SSD to the system board.
Solid State Drive (SSD) 2280
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Remove the protective film from the thermal pad and stick it onto the SSD slot on the system board.
Peel off the protective mylar on the thermal pad.
Align the notch with the tab and slide the SSD into the connector.
Install the screw that secure the SSD to the system board.
Memory Modules
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the memory module slot.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) location highlighted in blue
Slide the wireless card at an angle into the wireless card slot.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Slide and place the wireless card bracket on the wireless card.
Install the screw that secures the wireless card bracket to the wireless card.
Expansion card
Identify the expansion card location highlighted in blue.
Align the graphics card with the connector on the system board.
Align the card with the connector using the alignment post, then press down firmly to ensure it's securely seated.
Close the PCIe latch to secure the graphics card in the slot.
SMA Antenna
Identify the SMA antenna location highlighted in blue.
Push the antennas into the slots on the back of the chassis.
Install the nut and washer to secure the antennas to the chassis.
Route the antenna cables through the routing guides on the system board.
Press the antenna cable into the clip on the system board.
Disk drive cage
Identify the disk drive cage location highlighted in blue.
Place the disk drive cage upside down on the chassis.
Connect the data and power cable to the connectors on the optical drive.
Hold the disk drive cage upright and align with its mounting points with the slots on the chassis.
Align the screw hole on the cage with the screw hole on the chassis.
Move the lock handle to lock the disk drive cage in place.
Route the power and data cables through the routing guide on the disk drive cage.
Hard drive assembly
Coin Cell Battery
Identify the coin cell battery location highlighted in blue
Insert the coin cell battery into the socket with the positive side (+) label facing up.
Snap the battery in the socket.
Intrusion switch
Identify the intrusion switch location highlighted in blue.
Slide the intrusion switch into the slot on the chassis.
Route the intrusion switch cable through the routing guides on the chassis.
Connect the intrusion switch cable to the connector on the system board.
Internal speaker
Identify the speaker location highlighted in blue
Press the tab on the speaker and slide it into the chassis slot until it snaps into place.
Route the speaker cable through the routing guide on the chassis.
Connect the speaker cable to the connector on the system board.
Front bezel
Identify the front bezel location highlighted in blue.
Align the front cover tabs with the slots on the chassis.
Rotate the front cover towards the chassis and snap it into place.
Side Cover
Identify the side cover location highlighted in blue.
Slide the side cover towards the front of the computer until you hear the release latch click.
