Removal
Base cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover to the system.
Remove the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
Using a plastic scribe, pry the basecover from bottom left and continue on the sides to loosen.
Slide and lift the base cover off the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the battery to the system.
Remove the screws that secure the battery to the system.
Lift the battery to remove from the system.
Memory Module
Identify the memory module highlighted in blue.
Lift the mylar to access the memory.
Using your fingertips, carefully spread apart the securing clips on each end until the memory module pops up.
Slide and remove the memory module from the memory module slot.
SSD 2280
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the thermal shield to the system board.
Remove the screw that secures the thermal shield to the I/O board.
Lift the thermal shield off the solid state drive.
Slide and lift the solid state drive (SSD) from the system board.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Rear I/O Cover
Identify the rear I/O cover highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the rear I/O cover to the system.
Remove the screws that secure the rear I/O cover to the rear of the computer.
Starting from the corner, pry the rear I/O cover out and away from the palm rest assembly.
Fan & Heatsink Assembly
Power Adapter Port
Identify the power adapter port highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the power adapter port bracket.
Remove the power adapter port bracket from the system.
Remove the thermal filler from the slot on the palm rest assembly.
Peel off the tape that secure the power adapter port cable to the palm rest.
Disconnect the power adapter port cable from the system board.
Lift the power adapter port and peel the cable from the system board.
Type-C Bracket
Identify the type-C bracket highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the type-C bracket to the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the type-C bracket to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the type-C bracket from the palm rest assembly.
Display Cable
Identify the display cable highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the camera cable from the system board.
Lift the metal latch and disconnect the display cable from the system board.
Peel the tapes that secure the camera cable to the system board.
Peel the tapes that secure the WLAN cable to the system board.
Unroute the camera, display and WLAN cables from the routing guides on the palm rest assembly.
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly highlighted in blue.
Lift the latch and disconnect the power button cable from the system board.
Lift the latch and disconnect the keyboard controller and touchpad cables from the system board.
Disconnect the touchpad LED cable from the system board.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the audio board.
Remove the screws that secure the I/O board to the system.
Remove the screws that secure the audio board to the system.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the system.
Lift up the system board assembly away from the palm rest.
I/O Board
Turn & place the system board assembly on the flat and clean surface as shown.
Identify the I/O board highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the I/O board to the system board.
Slide and remove the I/O board from the system board .
Audio Board
Lift the system board assembly and turn it over.
Identify the audio board highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the audio board to the system board.
Slide and remove the audio board from the system board.
System Board
After all the parts are removed, the system board is remaining. No additional removals are needed.
Install
System Board
Place the system board on a clean flat surface.
Identify the system board location highlighted in blue.
Audio Board
Identify the audio board location highlighted in blue.
Slide and connect the audio board to the system board.
Install the screws that secure the audio board to the system board.
I/O Board
Identify the I/O board location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the I/O board into the slot on the system board.
Install the screws that secure the I/O board to the system board.
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly location highlighted in blue.
Install the system board assembly on the palm rest, using the alignment posts.
Install the screws that secure the system board to the system.
Install the screws that secure the audio board to the system.
Install the screws that secure the I/O board to the system.
Connect the speaker cable on the audio board.
Connect the touchpad LED cable to the system board.
Connect the keyboard controller and touchpad cables to the system board.Close the latch to secure.
Connect the power button cable to the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Display Cable
Identify the display cable location highlighted in blue.
Route the camera, display and WLAN cables through the routing guides on the palm rest assembly.
Connect the display cable to the system board and close the latch to secure.
Connect the camera cable to the system board.
Adhere the tapes that secure the camera cable to the system board.
Adhere the tapes that secure the WLAN cable to the system board.
Type-C Bracket
Identify the type-C bracket location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the type-C bracket into the slot on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the type-C bracket to the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the type-C bracket to the system board.
Power Adapter Port
Identify the power adapter port location highlighted in blue.
Install the power adapter port into the slot and adhere the cable to the system board.
Place the thermal filler into the slot on the palm rest assembly.
Connect the power adapter port cable to the system board.
Install the bracket over the system.
Install the screws to secure the power adapter port bracket.
Adhere the tape that secure the power adapter port cable to the palm rest.
Fan & Heatsink Assembly
Rear I/O Cover
Identify the rear I/O cover location highlighted in blue.
Align and slide the rear I/O cover into the slot on to the rear of the computer.
Install the screws that secure the rear I/O cover to the system.
Install the screws that secure the rear I/O cover to the system.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
SSD 2280
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch with the tab. Slide the SSD into the slot on the system.
Install the thermal shield on the solid state drive.
Install the screw that secures the thermal shield to the I/O board.
Install the screw that secures the thermal shield to the system board.
Memory Module
Identify the memory modules location highlighted in blue.
Lift the mylar to access the memory.
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the slot and slide the memory into the slot at an angle.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Using the alignment posts, place the battery on the system.
Install the screws to secure the battery.
Install the screws to secure the battery.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Slide and align the base cover and press the edges of the cover until it clicks into place.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the base cover to the system.
Install the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
