Hey, this is Tyler, technical evangelist for portrait displays. In this video, we're going to show you how to calibrate the Dell monitor using a 1D and 3D lookup table. I have connected the monitor to my computer using a thunderbolt cable, and the monitor is set up in an extended desktop mode. The first step I will do is, after I've opened Calman for Dell, is to click on Calman up here and go to open workflow template, and select Dell display calibration.
I'm gonna go to next. Now, I've already previously correlated my internal sensor in the monitor, so I'm not gonna cover that in this video. The first step is to click the Connect Dell monitor button. And then select 3Dlut. From the drop down. And then hit connect. Next step is. Hit connect again and this will activate the internal test pattern generator in the monitor. Then the last step is to connect to the internal uh meter.
So, we want to make sure Dell displays with meter USB is checked here, and then hit search. OK, now we're gonna go to the next step. Where we can Pick out what our targets are going to be. So, for this particular calibration, I'm going to do a 2.4 gamma. 100 nit calibration, which is the standard for video, standard dynamic range video mastering. Now, I'm going to go down here and and check the check box that says autosave calibration.
This is going to automate the process, so you don't have to uh hit start at each step in the process. Uh, in the previous video, I did that demoed, the 1D lookup table and matrix calibration. I went through the process individually. So now I'm showing you the automated process. So I'm gonna go down to next. And then I'm gonna hit the read series button here. This is gonna measure our pre-calibration, and then it's gonna run through the whole calibration process without um any more intervention from the user. OK, now it's time to write all of our calibration. Um, settings to a file. I'm just gonna do test 3. Hit save and that allows you to use.
The companion app to properly reload it, or to save and reload, if you have to reset the monitor. Somehow. OK, now we have our report that we can either print or generate a PDF from. So this is our pre-calibration measurements. Let me scroll down to our post calibration measurements. And then to close and go back to the workflow, you can click this button here. So that's the end of the process. Um, we will be doing another video on matching. Another type of device, like a phone or a tablet or a laptop. So stay tuned for that one. OK, I'm Tyler and thank you for watching.
