In this video, we will demonstrate how to validate an image using Additional Tools. Image Assist performs multiple tests to check if the system is ready for Sysprep and image capture. It also validates if the image is free from known build errors that would prevent Dell from successfully deploying the image in the factory on cross platform hardware.
For more information about the checks that Image Assist performs, see the Image Assist Dynamic User’s Guide. Image Assist validates your image while creating and capturing a dynamic image. For more information, see the video titled Capture and restore a Dynamic image using Image Assist.
Optionally, you can also use the Additional Tools option to check the image. In this video, we will see how to validate the image using Additional Tools. To begin, on the Image Assist home page, click the gear icon and click Additional Tools. In the Check Image card, click Validate. Image Assist checks the image and verifies the registry, services, rearm, sysprep, appx package, software, drivers, policy, and Unattend XML file.
If failures are detected during the process, click the corresponding Failed link, and review the issue description. To manually resolve driver issues, you can attempt to uninstall the drivers from the Device Manager or refer to the vendor documentation for uninstallation instructions. To manually resolve software issues, you can attempt to uninstall the software from Add or remove programs.
To manually resolve the Unattend XML file issue, you can attempt to create a new Unattend XML file. If you are unable to solve the issues manually and need assistance, contact the Dell OS Imaging Helpdesk. To contact the helpdesk, on the Image Assist Dynamic home page, click the help icon and click Get Support.
Click RESOLVE ISSUES and the tool helps fix the issues. If all issues are resolved, a confirmation message is displayed. For more information about Dell Image Assist, go to Dell.com/ImageAssist.
