Hello. Let's take a look at how to collect performance logs from the Dell Unity storage systems. These logs may be requested by support to troubleshoot performance problems or storage bottlenecks. As you can see, I'm logged in to the Unisphere interface here. After that, on the left menu under "System", click on "Service" where you can do some service tasks and log collections. Then, click on "Downloads".
This is where you'll see the performance archive files listed on this Unity system. These files are collected automatically. You do not need to manually start or stop them. And here is the list of the files arranged by the newest on top. The file names include the date, time, and GMT at which this archive collection started. As an example, this one on top was started at 9 a.m. GMT, which covers from 10 to 11 a.m. local time on this particular system. So, you can select a single file.
Then click on the "Download" button on the bottom right here. Or alternatively, if you want to select multiple at the same time, two, three or whatever time period that your performance problem was at, and then click "Download". This will zip all three files selected here into a single zip file, and download them onto your system. If you scroll down, you'll see that every hour, an archive is collected, and that it only goes far back for a few days.
However, that's not all the archives that are on this Unity system. There is another option if you select archive files within a specific time range here. This button. Then click on the icon here to customize the time duration. You can go back to any point previously. Let's say you have a particular incident on a date that you remember previously. And then, you can select the exact time that you want the collection to be starting from and to. Here, as you can see, I chose a time period of three hours. Click "OK". And that will tell me the total number of selected archive files are three, their size, and again, I can click the "Download" button to download those. So, that's how you download Unity performance logs.
You almost always need to collect service data. So, you can go to "Service Tasks" here and "Collect Service Information" is selected by default. Click "Execute". This is where you'll find the Unity Service data, which you'll almost always need along with the Performance archive files to troubleshoot bottlenecks or performance problems. Thank you.
