In this video, we’ll cover the process of deploying an operating system using the manual installation method with UEFI secure boot mode. You can perform this task on 13th generation Dell PowerEdge servers. Let’s begin. Launch the Lifecycle Controller GUI. From the Lifecycle Controller homepage, click Virtual Media menu and then click Connect Virtual Media. Click Virtual Media menu again and click Map CD/DVD. In the dialog box, click Browse to navigate to the location and select the ISO image file.
And then click Map Device. From the left navigation bar, click OS Deployment and then click Deploy OS to start the OS installation steps. Select Configure RAID First to create a new virtual disk and click Next. Select the RAID controller and click Next. And select the RAID level and click Next. Select the number of physical disks to be configured and click Next. Enter the name in the Virtual Disk Name field and then click Next. Verify the configuration details and click Finish. A warning pop-up message appears to verify if you wish to continue.
Click Yes. Another pop-up message will appear after the RAID configuration is successful. Click OK. Select UEFI from the Boot Mode options. Select Enabled from the Secure Boot options. Under Available Operating Systems, select any secure boot-supported Windows Operating System and then click Next. The system starts composing OS drivers for the selected operating system. Select Manual Install as the installation mode and then click Next. On the Insert OS Media page, click Next to install the selected operating system.
The settings are summarized on this page. Then click Finish to apply the settings. After the settings are applied, the system will reboot and start the OS deployment in a few minutes. On the Windows Setup wizard, select the appropriate language in which you wish to install the OS. It’s like your time and currency format, and keyboard or input method. Then click Next to continue. Then click Install now.
This operation might take a few minutes. Select the type of operating system you want to install and click Next. Read through the license agreement. Select I accept the license terms and click Next. Select Custom: Install Windows only and click Next to start the OS installation. Note that the system will restart a few times while the installation is in progress. After the installation is successful, the system restarts. For more information, go to DellTechCenter.com/iDRAC.
