How to Replace a Fan for PowerEdge R760

Uncover the procedures for removing and installing cooling fans in this tutorial. Following safety guidelines, power off your system, and effortlessly handle standard, silver-grade, or gold-grade fans. Whether it's removing or installing, the steps remain the same, ensuring efficient fan maintenance.

Prerequisites
Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
Power off the system and all attached peripherals.
Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet and disconnect the peripherals.
If applicable, remove the system from the rack.
Remove the system cover.

NOTE:
The procedure for removing a standard (STD), high-performance silver grade (HPR SLVR), or high-performance gold grade (HPR GOLD) fan is the same.

Removing a cooling fan:
Press the orange release tab and lift the cooling fan to disconnect the fan from the connector on the system board.

Installing a cooling fan:
Align and lower the cooling fan into the cooling fan assembly until the fan clicks into place.

Replace the system cover.
If applicable, install the system into the rack.
Reconnect the peripherals and connect the system to the electrical outlet, and then power on the system.
