This video shows how to replace the M.2 2230 solid-state drive on an Inspiron 3891. Before you begin, create a recovery drive and back up all data before removing the M.2 2230 solid-state drive. Power off the computer, and disconnect all the attached peripherals. Ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer.
To begin, Remove the two thumb screws that secure the left-side cover to the chassis. Hold the tab on the left-side cover and slide the cover towards the back of the computer. Remove the left-side cover from the chassis. Lay the computer with its left side facing up. Remove the screw that secures the solid-state drive to the system board. Slide and lift the solid-state drive from the M.2 card slot on the system board.
You have successfully removed the M.2 2230 solid-state drive from SSD slot one. Now, let’s install the M.2 2230 solid-state drive. Align the notch on the solid-state drive with the tab on the M.2 card slot. Slide the solid-state drive into the M.2 card slot on the system board. Replace the screw that secures the solid-state drive to the system board.
Place the computer in an upright position. Align the tabs on the left-side cover with the slots on the chassis, and slide it towards the front of the computer. Replace the two thumb screws that secure the left-side cover to the chassis. The M.2 2230 solid-state drive installation process is now complete.
