This video will demonstrate the how to remove and install system memory on the PowerEdge M620. Replace defective DIMM and/or expand system memory to increase memory capacity. Power down and remove the node from the enclosure. Before you begin: Remove cover, remove cooling shroud. Use static discharge mat and bracelet.
Prerequisites

Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that are shipped with your product.
Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions section.
Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system section.
Remove the cooling shroud.
If installed, remove the cooling fan assembly.
NOTE:The memory modules are hot to touch for some time after the system has been powered down. Allow the memory modules to cool before handling them. Handle the memory modules by the card edges and avoid touching the components or metallic contacts on the memory module.
CAUTION:To ensure proper system cooling, memory module blanks must be installed in any memory socket that is not occupied. Remove memory module blanks only if you intend to install memory modules in those sockets.
Removing memory modules:
Locate the appropriate memory module socket.
CAUTION: Handle each memory module only by the card edges, ensuring not to touch the middle of the memory module or metallic contacts.
To release the memory module from the socket, simultaneously press the ejectors on both ends of the memory module socket.
Lift and remove the memory module from the system.

Installing memory modules:
Locate the appropriate memory module socket.
CAUTION: Handle each memory module only by the card edges, ensuring not to touch the middle of the memory module or metallic contacts.
Open the ejectors on the memory module socket outward to allow the memory module to be inserted into the socket.
Align the edge connector of the memory module with the alignment key of the memory module socket, and insert the memory module in the socket.
CAUTION:Do not apply pressure at the center of the memory module; apply pressure at both ends of the memory module evenly.
NOTE:The memory module socket has an alignment key that enables you to install the memory module in the socket in only one orientation.
Press the memory module with your thumbs until the socket levers firmly click into place.
When the memory module is properly seated in the socket, the levers on the memory module socket align with the levers on the other sockets that have memory modules installed.
