To resolve Microsoft Edge performance issues, first, we’ll need to enter Safe Mode on your device. Click on the Windows “Start” button and navigate to “Settings.” In the “System” section, scroll down and select “Recovery.” Click on “Restart now” next to “Advanced startup.” Confirm the restart.
When the computer restarts, you will see a blue screen with options. Select “Troubleshoot.” Click on “Advanced options.” Choose “Startup Settings.” Click on “Restart.” After the computer restarts, press “4” or “F4” on your keyboard to enable Safe Mode. You can also press “5” or “F5” to enter Safe Mode with Networking.
The device will now boot into Safe Mode. Click on the Windows “Start” button and search for “cmd.” Under the “Command Prompt” app results, select “Run as administrator.” Click “Yes” on the pop-up that appears. In the “Command Prompt” window, type “sfc /scannow” and press “Enter.”
The system file checker utility will check the integrity of the Windows system files and repair them, if necessary. When the process is finished, restart your computer.
