In this video, we will demonstrate how to split a Windows image WIM file into a set of smaller SWM files. Image Assist allows you to split a Windows image or WIM file into a set of smaller SWM files. Splitting the WIM files can be useful for network transfer speeds, or for saving files to a FAT32 formatted partition, which limits files to a maximum size of 4 gigabytes.
You can use the Additional Tools option to split a WIM file. To begin, on the Image Assist home page, click the gear icon and click Additional Tools. On the Split WIM File card, click SPLIT. Click Browse and select the WIM file. Click Split.
The WIM file is split into multiple SWM files and saved in the same folder where the WIM file is available. On the confirmation window, click OK. For more information about Dell Image Assist, go to Dell.com/ImageAssist.
